You may recall the display for China Glaze The Giver which I saw at one of my Sally Beauty stores early this month:
I commented then that there were two microglitters in the collection. I am sure it will not surprise anyone that those were the two I came home with. The Outer Edge is on the left; Boundary of Memory is on the right.
The Outer Edge is very small matte white glitter with a sprinkling of tiny silver metallic glitter in a clear base.
Looking at The Outer Edge in the bottle, it looked like a layering polish to me, so I put Orly State of Grace, a grey creme, on three of my nails as a base. I topped State of Grace with one coat of The Outer Edge and did three coats of it alone on my accent finger. I added topcoat to all my nails, though The Outer Edge was pretty smooth without it.
Boundary of Memory has very small black matte glitter with generous helpings of similarly sized warm gold and cool gold glitters.
I expected Boundary of Memory to be similar to The Outer Edge as far as coverage, so I put Beautifully Disney Midnight Hour, ad dark red creme, on all but my ring finger. It turned out that Boundary of Memory was much more opaque; I put one coat of it over Midnight Hour and only two coats of it by itself on my ring finger, then added topcoat though again the glitter wasn't especially bumpy without it.
Boundary of Memory feels like autumn to me; it's darkly sparkly. Here it is in low direct light:
I never read the book that's been made into the movie that this collection is a tie-in for, so I've no idea if these shades are a good interpretation or representation of the the story or setting. I do quite like these glitters regardless. I came across the press release for this collection online and that confirmed that the other ten colors are all cremes. I am somewhat tempted to go back and get them just to make sure I have dupes, but I am trying to resist those sorts of impulses, at least until I manage to do the summer brights comparisons I already have lined up in my swatching queue.
