Is The Weeknd's new song 'Call Out My Name' about Selena Gomez? Twitter says yes

Ready for The Weeknd?

The artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, dropped an EP, My Dear Melancholy, and one tune, in particular, has Twitter's best detectives combing through the lyrics.

They think Call Out My Name is about the singer's ex, Selena Gomez. The two were spotted kissing in January 2017 and speculation of a possible split grew in October when Gomez was photographed with her on again/off again ex, Justin Bieber.

It's evident the song is about love lost with lyrics like "We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake."

Those lines are generic enough, but Verse 2 caught the attention of some amateur sleuths. "I said I didn't feel nothing, baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life / Guess I was just another pit stop / 'Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time."

Gomez revealed on Instagram in September that she received a kidney from her good friend, actress Francia Raisa, writing that she has spent the summer recovering.

Twitter users were quick to jump to one conclusion: The Weeknd contemplated donating his kidney to the Wolves singer.

"When The Weeknd be talking about cutting out his kidney to give to Selena," one user wrote.

And he wasn't alone in his hypothesis.

Some on Twitter believe Gomez inspired all of The Weeknd's Melancholy.

"The Weeknd's new album just screams Selena! But I'm here for it cause it's pure feels. New content to sing in the shower with a bottle of wine as my mic," wrote one user who did not stand alone.
